What is UMA technology?
UMA is signal boosting technology that Orange have added to a selection of their mobiles. It works off your home Wi-Fi signal, allowing you to send and receive your text messages and phone calls over the Wi-Fi signal rather than mobile signal. This means that you'll be able to stay in touch even even when you've got poor signal!
UMA is a free service, and will not affect your Wi-Fi connection in any way. In fact, this service works with any Wi-Fi router, so long as you can join the network and the signal strength is adequate! So you'll be able to benefit from a signal boost when using Wi-Fi out and about, too!

How do you connect?
Simply turn on your Wi-Fi connection and your home router, and join your home Wi-Fi network using your UMA-enabled mobile. Once you have joined, UMA will automatically switch on, and you will be able to get stunning signal for all your mobile needs! An indicator in the corner of your screen will inform you of your successful connection via UMA technology.
If you find that the UMA indicator displays "uma" in lower-case instead of capitalised "UMA", simply turn your mobile off and on again to re-establish the UMA connection.
UMA is the perfect partner for BlackBerry - the battery life of a BlackBerry phone far outstrips those of other smartphones, and so you need not turn the Wi-Fi radio on and off to try and save power! This makes a BlackBerry perfect for UMA signal boost - always on and always available to help you get the most out of your Orange signal!
